The “WHIP CRAWLER” is the first of RAID JAPANs straight worms. We sought for an almighty soft plastic able to be set up in various styles or rigs.
It’s a versatile straight worm “not too hard or not too soft”, “not too fat or not too skinny” and “not too heavy or not too light”, able to handle various rigs and field conditions.

Furthermore, the shape of the cross section of the WHIP CRAWLER has been formed differently depending on the section. The position to set the hook has been formed in a triangular cross section where as the other parts have been formed to be more of a circular cross section, eliminating the plane appearance while increasing the action response. By differing your hook positioning, anglers will intentionally be able to create a 2 WAY action.

If anglers set the hook on the same surface as the RJ logo, the water pressure against the worm will enable it to stage a dynamic wobbling action.

This is most productive when fishing the muddy waters or situations where anglers want the appeal to the fish. In addition, as the flat surface creates the drag against the water, this will reduce the distance the worm travels, inducing bites from inactive fish.
The other method is to set the hook at the tip of the triangular section in the grooves provided. This will enable the worm to stage a high pitch tight rolling action.

The reserved action induces bites from the spooked bass when sight fishing or when you are fishing in clear water conditions.

We have also formed the pitch of the ribs differently in the head section to the tail section. Furthermore, the grooves in the ribs are deeper at the most critical action point. With these factors combined, when utilizing the Wacky style, the worm will automatically wiggle once it hits the surface and while sinking to the bottom, inducing bites from the suspending fish.

It is also suited for the Neco-rig, jig-head Wacky rig, non-sinker Wacky-rig, Wacky style down shot-rig, etc. Depending on the weight of the sinker, it is also ideal for the bait-finesse approach giving you another option to your bass fishing.
As seen above, the WHIP CRAWLER is not a simple straight worm but a versatile worm where anglers can adjust depending on field conditions or how active the fish are.
